Using this effective and popular word processing program, learn the fundamental concepts and techniques of word processing, including the ability to create, edit, print, and manage your documents. Focus will be on working with text, learning how to navigate within a document, character and paragraph formatting, and managing files.
Prerequisite: Successful completion of Introduction to Computers (Parksville, Online) or equivalent course. Minimum keyboarding speed of 25 wpm recommended.
Note: MS Word 2007 or MS Word 2010 software is required for the online classroom. If you are using an MS Office suite, MS Office 2007 Home and Student or MS Office 2010 Home and Student is sufficient for the online course.

Microsoft Excel Level 1
In this course, you will learn about the basics of spreadsheets--what they're used for and how they work. You will create worksheets for various purposes and learn to manage spreadsheet files. Hands-on time will be spent on formatting worksheets, page setup and printing, and working with formulas and functions.

This intermediate course extends your knowledge in working with functions and formulas in MS Excel. Learn to use macros, range names, check data, and create forms to meet specific needs.

Microsoft Access Level 1
Whether you simply wish to keep track of your home inventory or a list of customers, or wish to design a complete database to help run an entire business, MS Access will do the job. In this course you will learn the fundamentals of what a database is all about. You will examine database planning and design, move on to table creation and field definition, design forms and queries, and produce reports.

Looking for an easier way to get your point across? Let PowerPoint help you create astounding presentations. You will learn how to create and modify slides, overheads, and printouts, as well as how to send your presentation via email. You'll take a look at using templates and learn how to enter text directly or from another software program. Adding pictures and other graphics to your presentation will be a snap with PowerPoint, and you'll be able to create your own speaker notes.

Want some help with becoming more organized? With Outlook you can be! In addition to its email features, Outlook offers a calendar and task list, contact/address book features, as well as integration with other Office programs such as Word, Excel, and Access. This course will take you through Outlook's email features and message management. You will look at calendar usage and learn how to optimize your time using Outlook's task and contact management capabilities.

Data validation techniques will be introduced, and you will learn how to query multiple tables for data to create customized forms and reports. The use of sub-forms will be examined.
